Buck’s Story

Site created on February 3, 2024

In early January 2024, during a general health screening, a CT exam showed a 3 centimeter mass in the hilar region of Buck’s right lung. After a pet scan and biopsy, doctors have diagnosed him with adenocarcinoma of the lung. The biopsy also showed cancerous activity in the bronchia and a lymph node. Possibilities for treatment include radiation, chemotherapy, and immunotherapy—all of which will be discussed at upcoming MD Anderson appointments in Houston. We are thankful for all the prayers and support we know we can count on by friends and family.

Good News and Next Steps...

Some of you may remember that a brain MRI in February 2024 revealed a 3mm (<1/8 inch) lesion in my right frontal lobe. I had a follow-up MRI this past Sunday (4/21/24) and a follow-up meeting with Radiology on Monday (4/22/24). Good news: No new lesions! No growth in the existing lesion! It's possible that the existing lesion could just be an image of a blood vessel and not a lesion at all! We'll take it!

Next Steps:

  • Heading home to Georgetown this Saturday (4/27/24) afternoon
  • May 13 - Heart Echo, etc. at MD Anderson (MDA) in Houston
  • May 15 - Body CT at MDA in Houston
  • July 28 - Brain MRI at MDA in Houston
  • July 29 - MRI discussion with Radiology at MDA in Houston
  • July 31 - PET CT at MDA in Houston to see results of March-April 2024 Chemo-Radiation
  • August 1 - PET CT discussion with Radiology & Oncology at MDA in Houston

Still Left To Do:

  • Waiting on Oncology to determine a start date for oral medication for the EGFR gene mutation. Should be in May 2024 and will last a year.

So grateful to the Lord for His care for all of us.

So grateful to all of you for your prayers, meals, funds, books/magazines, visits, rides...you name it!

We will keep you posted as things unfold but we're gonna enjoy this break from the battle and continue to rest and heal up.

Blessings...
