Brynn's surgery went very well yesterday. She did excellent from everyone's standpoint.

On her right leg, they were able to stick to all the original plans.  They closed it up and placed a skin graft.  For the skin graft, they took a section from the crease of her crotch area and stitched it back together.  Stitches are located on the inside and will dissolve.  A glue was placed over the spot to further protect the area from urine and feces.

On her left leg, they removed very minimal bad tissue.  This is great, it meant not much was left.  They started to close it up but at this time were not able to place a skin graft.  This was a bit expected.  They didn't have to take any more length off, so that is exciting news.   They placed a splint on this leg to keep her knee from bending for the time being.  This will serve to protect her leg muscles.

They removed her epidural and urine catheter. They believe they have passed all the severe pain related surgeries.

The surgeon did mention to prepare for discharge.  But, before this happens they need to make sure any pain Brynn might be in is under control.  There is also a nasty blister like rash that developed around her central line that needs to be under control before they can head home.

As of right now, when discharge happens, they will go home with a vac pump and a central line.  The vac pump is there to make sure there is no bacterial growth on her open wounds, and to eliminate any that may be there.  She will be looking at having her vac change twice a week, which requires a trip back to the doctors to do so.  They will do this at least until they are ready to attempt skin grafts and close on the left leg.  We are unsure at this point how long that will be.

Brynn was pretty cranky and fussy after her long day yesterday and had a long night, but is in a better mood and playing this morning.  Over the last week, she has been enjoying playing with all the toys she has, playing doctor to her baby doll, watching Peppa Pig and video chatting with her favorite cousin "Colt" (Colton), or looking at his picture when he is at school and can't talk.

So all in all, Brynn has had a very long week.  She has been a super tough little gal and we couldn't be more proud of her.  Thanks for all your prayers, Kim and Brandon felt surrounded by them all this week and appreciate them so much.
