Bryce’s Story

Site created on March 27, 2023

On March 26, 2023 Bryce suffered a ruptured AVM and required emergency brain surgery at Children's Hospital. He then had to learn to walk, talk & eat again. He was hospitalized a total of 88 days. He had an incredible medical & rehab team to truly save his life and get his quality of life back. Thank you for your prayers and your support, please read below for updates on Bryce.

Journal entry by Sarah Miller

Today we are grateful for the year we have had and the time we have been able to spend together during this year’s Spring Break. This year’s Spring Break looks very different than last year’s Spring Break….thanks be to God, the power of prayer and the support of our amazing community!

Bryce has worked really hard this past year-he has earned straight A’s in Middle School, continued Physical Therapy, he has started working on ice skating again, gotten more involved in our church’s youth group, enjoyed participating in local activities with his hockey team as a non-skating rostered member and has developed some new friendships.  He has undergone two additional eye surgeries attempting to correct his double vision (it is improved but not yet resolved…he may ultimately need to wear glasses with a prism).  We are so incredibly proud of how resilient he is.

We got to vacation for Spring Break this year as a family-we enjoyed a dolphin encounter (see pictures), Bryce and Chad were truly the last ones standing on a deep sea fishing trip (the crew brought me, Colton & Austin back to the docks barfing), but thankfully Bryce got to do something he loves most and had a very fruitful fishing experience.  Having time together complete with all 5 of us did not go unappreciated. We are so thankful. Bryce’s Neurosurgeon  and her team hear from us routinely-just how thankful we are!

We appreciate all the support and prayers and praises to God. Please continue to pray for Bryce-he will obviously remain under close medical surveillance and will continue working to rehabilitate.  Please enjoy the pictures I have included of Bryce living his life as a 12 year old boy-with his hard work and determination not much gets in his way!
