Bruce’s Story

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.


For those of you that don’t know, Bruce was admitted to the ICU at Wake Medical on Monday for what they have diagnosed as Rhabdomyolysis. This is the break down of muscle tissue that releases muscle contents into the blood.

Last week Bruce starting have muscle pain that we attributed to a pulled muscle. The pain increased dramatically over the weekend and thus led to admittance to the hospital. Today he was moved from the ICU but continues to be in acute renal failure(kidney).

We are praying that with kidney resuscitation that this will help his kidneys function and filter the toxins from his body. His doctors have also expressed some concern with his liver but our biggest hurdle at this point is his kidney function.

We are deeply blessed to have so many friends and family that are praying and reaching out to us. Thank you for providing such strong support during this difficult time. I have started this page to provide a central location for updates and hope that it can provide some comfort to all of you as we move forward on this journey. I will do my best to provide daily updates for all of you here. Please continue to keep Bruce and our family in your thoughts and prayers.

Praise the Lord!  Bruce was released from the hospital this weekend.  He is doing well and we are monitoring him closely from home and will have follow up appointments with the doctors this week.
