Journal entry by Lisa Heinen

Day 21- Christmas came early at the Heinen household and just like that Bruce is HOME!!!

On Saturday, Bruce’s WBC finally started to go up.  It was a mere 0.1,  then on Sunday it was up to a 0.5.  Yesterday it went up to 1.2.  Bruce was hoping he’d come home today but was told on Monday afternoon that his platelets had dropped and that they wanted him to stay one more day.  Then this morning his WBC was up to a 4.0!  They gave him some platelets and sent him packing and Bruce wasn’t about to give them a chance to change their minds.

The nurses on the floor said that seeing someone go home 14 days after transplant is almost unheard of so thank you are for your continued prayers!

Bruce goes back Thursday for labs to make sure everything is still going well. He said he’s happy to be home to eat some good home cooked meals and to being able to sleep in his own bed!  May you all remember and appreciate the simple pleasures this Christmas season and give thanks for all of your blessings.  We give thanks each and every day.  Please continue your prayers for continued healing and good health heading into cold and flu season.
