Journal entry by Brittney Kats —
We haven't posted an update in a while. The good news is because there hasn't been much to update. Brooks has been trucking along kicking leukemias butt! He's had very minimal side effects, has been a champ at taking his meds daily, and goes to preschool 3 days a week. I almost felt that making an update would somehow jinks how well he's been doing, but we debunked that theory yesterday when Brooks woke up with a fever. We were sent right to the ER and have been admitted. Fevers are a scary thing for cancer kids and is an indication that something could be seriously wrong, Tim and I have become human thermometers and can tell the difference between 100.5 and 101 by the touch of our hand. Thankfully in Brooks' case his fever was a sign of a virus, he tested positive for the common cold and nothing more serious. Being sick did drop his ANC numbers dangerously low so he is being monitored and as I like to say "We are staying at our studio apartment in the city for a few days". Provided Brooks doesn't get another fever we should be able to break out of here tomorrow just in time to eat some Turkey!
