Brooke’s Story

Site created on April 8, 2020

Brooke was diagnosed with Stage 3 Triple Negative Breast Cancer on March 3, 2020. I am going to speak for a few of us when I say it has taken a little while to get past the initial shock to be able to get here and share this journey with everyone.  But I know that the amazing people that Brooke is blessed with in her life will only help to guide her, pray for her and love her through this journey.  What she thought would be a normal postpartum checkup and possible "swollen milk duct", turned into something much bigger. She was given the challenge of taking care of these two beautiful boys, moving back HOME and the thought that "cancer" could be a part of her life. She took it head on as she always does with grace, strength and faith.  God has worked in a mysterious way to bring her and her family back home so I ask everyone reading this that you pray for Brooke, Ben, Owen and Cooper through this journey.  She needs, more than ever, this family of amazing people around her.

Journal entry by Tiffany Leblanc

One year ago today, Brooke received the phone call no one is ever prepared to get. You have “CANCER”. So much has happened in this last year but through it all Brooke has shown the most amazing strength and resilience. Cancer was not going to define her. Cancer was not going to stop her from being a mom, being a wife, being a friend and for me the most important, being a sister. She has taught me so much this past year. What true love is. What true strength is. What true faith is. And that you never know what life will throw your way so you have to enjoy every moment and live life to the fullest. Cherish those things that really matter the most to you.

Brooke’s reconstruction surgery (hopefully last surgery) is scheduled for March 26th. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers.
