Brooke’s Story

Site created on May 26, 2019

Welcome to Brooke's CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement.

Here is her story:

On Monday, May 20th 2019, Brooke went into urgent care for bruises that covered her entire body. Thinking she was Anemic, the doctor ordered her to get blood work done. after her blood work came back she was sent directly to the emergency room due to extremely low platelets and low white blood cells. A few hours later Brooke was diagnosed with APL (Acute Promyelocytic Leukemia). She started chemo immediately and when day 2 came around, she had a bone marrow biopsy to confirm that she for sure had APL. Her treatment plan was then set in place. This caring bridge is set up for anyone wanting day by day updates on Brooke's progress to recovery. She is a fighter and this is a battle she's in to win! #Bstrong

Newest Update

Journal entry by Brooke Bauer

It has been awhile since I have posted! But I recently had 4 weeks off of treatment and felt great! I still had to take my tretinoin (chemo pills) but for the most part they only gave me headaches and nausea. The bone pain has improved tremendously(knock on wood) I started my second rounds of chemo yesterday and  so far have shown no serious symptoms. I returned back to work and am working part time to get my body back into the drill or working. I just passed my licensure exam for dental assisting and couldn’t be more excited! I love my job, and am doing much better! More updates to come!
