Day 41: Brock had a really good weekend.  On Saturday his nose tube that went down to the top of his stomach was removed.  They had to watch him over the weekend  for any nausea or vomiting after it was removed, so he was not allowed any fluids, not even ice chips. He has gone almost the full 41 days with no food or fluids, he has lost about 35 lbs since his injury.  He managed to make it through the weekend without feeling sick or run any fevers, blood pressure is just about back to normal, (with meds) and his heart rate is staying around 110 -120 which should drop down more once his body starts to get rid of all the medications he has been on.  Brock had a busy day today, he had another wound vac change and had an upper GI contrast study scan done to make sure the repair the surgeon did didn't have any leaks. They came back as no signs of leakage, so he has been cleared to have fluids, so he is enjoying a root beer slushy right now. Tomorrow he will start back on very soft foods.  If he starts to vomit or have a fever after being put back on fluids and food, it would be a sign that something is leaking, but they are pretty confident that there is a good seal on the repair of his intestine.  Hopefully we are finally seeing a light at the end of the tunnel and we might be getting closer to getting him home, but before that happens we have to see how he handles the food, of course, have his wound vac removed, and also the drains that are inserted in his sides removed. It has been nice to see him to continue to progress each day and to finally see our sweet Brock be himself, it has been a long time since we have seen that! We will be forever grateful to our family, who keep watch over Kyle and Brynlee. To all of our amazing friends and the amazing community we live in for the endless support that has been given to our sweet boy! With much love, The DeRoche's ♥️

Please be advised:  This is a great website and I am grateful for it to be able to Journal Brock's progress, but any donations made through this website goes to the website itself and not us.  If you feel you need to donate please use the Venmo that has been set up in Facebook or (@Tara-DeRoche).   We are grateful and blessed for what has been given to us and any donations that we have left after our expenses are covered, we will donate it to the Ronald McDonald House Charity.  We don't know what we would do if we didn't have this beautiful facility and volunteers who have gone out of their way to take care of Drew and I.❤❤
