Journal entry by Benjamin Horst —
In honor of Brittney, we have built and installed a “Little Free Library” in Lititz’s Dean L Saylor Park (183 Market St, Lititz, PA | the library is near the playground). She frequented this park with her precious children, family and friends.
A Little Free Library is a "take a book, share a book" free resource exchange for neighborhoods and communities. We hope this project will be one that continues Britt’s legacy of literacy and love, especially for those who did not get the chance to know her. Books that we purposefully place in Britt's Little Library will have an identifying stamp and direct readers to share their book takeaways and/or memories of Britt at the Instagram account @Brittsbeautifullibrary - give us a follow!
We’d like to invite you to come to our dedication ceremony on Friday, October 6 at 4 P.M. in the park and, of course, to help us stock the library with books for the community! We will be stamping books and placing them on the shelves that day. We hope to fill Britt's Beautiful Library with a variety of books - ones she read, recommended, taught, enjoyed with her children, etc. If you do not foresee being able to physically bring a book to Britt's Beautiful Library at the park, or would like some book ideas, we have created a wish list of book titles at this link.
If there is a special book that is not on the above list that you read because of Brittney, please share it with us! Those who do not live locally, but wish to donate a book to her library can send one to the Horst home.
Thank you for your love, prayers and support. We hope you are inspired to pick up a book (or two!) that piqued your interest. And because it wouldn’t be right to post without sharing some words of hope from the One holding us in our grief…
1 Peter 1:3-9 NLT
All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is by his great mercy that we have been born again, because God raised Jesus Christ from the dead. Now we live with great expectation, and we have a priceless inheritance—an inheritance that is kept in heaven for you, pure and undefiled, beyond the reach of change and decay. And through your faith, God is protecting you by his power until you receive this salvation, which is ready to be revealed on the last day for all to see. So be truly glad. There is wonderful joy ahead, even though you must endure many trials for a little while. These trials will show that your faith is genuine. It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold—though your faith is far more precious than mere gold. So when your faith remains strong through many trials, it will bring you much praise and glory and honor on the day when Jesus Christ is revealed to the whole world. You love him even though you have never seen him. Though you do not see him now, you trust him; and you rejoice with a glorious, inexpressible joy. The reward for trusting him will be the salvation of your souls.
