Six weeks since open heart surgery! Now I have a weight restriction of 20 pounds till the end of January!! I have held a couple “heavier” things (things over 10 pounds) and was so happy to see that I was able to, but my arms got sore quickly. So now I need to start working them out again.

Cardiac rehab is going well. I haven’t tried walking over a mile, but instead am working on being able to walk the speed I used to be able to. I used to do treadmills at 3mph. When I started using a treadmill a couple weeks after surgery I could only walk at 1 mph. Now I can comfortably walk at 2.5, and can walk at 3 for a couple minutes.

I’ve been sleeping in my bed for a week now!! I was sleeping in a recliner every night. I use three pillows or a wedge pillow to keep myself more reclined still. Sometimes I slide down a bit while sleeping, this makes me feel stuck. But I’m getting better at getting up. I couldn’t use my arms at all at first. Now I use them a bit. But still can’t fully use them to get up. I’m hoping to be able to go back to Charles’s and my bed soon. This is the longest (by far) that we haven’t shared a bed and I’m ready for this period to be done. But I still don’t feel fully comfortable being in an unlocked room asleep where the kids can get to me.

Small wins: sneezing doesn’t hurt as bad anymore. Still hurts my ribs, but not half as bad. I can fully dress myself now! Not feeling so tired just doing daily activities.
