Brian’s Story

Site created on June 8, 2021

Welcome! Because so many have asked about and keep Brian and our family in thoughts and prayers, we created this site as a way to keep all updated on Brian's health. Brian is not on Facebook, so the messages you leave on this website will be a big encouragement to him throughout this journey.

As many of you know, Brian was hospitalized in early May with cellulitis. It was challenging to get the infection under control, but he has since healed from that. Then, the first week of June, he developed pleurisy, a cough, and a fever. Medications helped the pleurisy, but the fever and cough lingered. Friday, June 4th, he was advised to go to the emergency room and was admitted to the hospital with a lung infection.  After more blood tests, he received a diagnosis on Saturday of acute leukemia. That same day, he was transferred to Big Barnes in St. Louis, which is one of the leading hospitals in the nation for their care and treatment of leukemia.

We are thankful that our daughters Brittany and Jennifer, and son-in-law Jason were able to be in town as we began this journey. The outpouring of love, concern, and prayers from family and friends has been  uplifting and encouraging. Keep 'em coming!

Journal entry by Jason & Jennifer Becker

Hello friends and family,

Our heartfelt thanks and gratitude to everyone who has shown love and support to our family, especially since Brian's passing to heaven. Every day is hard, but we are trying to follow Brian's mantra to 'Keep Moving Forward'.  We have full confidence that Brian would have loved the Resurrection Celebration - the readings, solos, sermon, brass ensemble, and general joy and hope of the Resurrection. It was truly an Easter celebration while also remembering the ways that Brian loved people and loved God. Thank you to all who participated and/or attended.

Immanuel live-streamed the service, and it is now available on their YouTube channel. However, it is an 'unlisted' video, meaning you need the specific link in order to find it.  It is linked below if you'd like to watch parts or all.
