Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

Brian Truax, loving husband, father of 4 incredible children, a brother, uncle, son, grandpa, and friend- is in our thoughts and prayers at this time as he undergoes treatment for cancer. Brian was diagnosed with Lung Cancer in spring of 2019. After several appointments and tests done at the Mayo Clinic, it was soon after determined the cancer had spread to the meninges of the brain. Over the past two years, Brian has been receiving treatment for the cancer via an oral medication that has successfully kept the cancer stable, in some areas even shrunk it.

During the spring of 2021, new symptoms began causing Brian's overall health to be of concern. After more tests and further appointments, Brian was admitted to the hospital, late August, in Minneapolis.  During these past couple weeks, it was discovered the cancer has spread to the spinal fluid, causing immense pressure on his brain. This pressure has been contributing to the various symptoms Brian has been experiencing. With the immediate need to relieve this pressure, Brian underwent surgery on August 30th to place a shunt in his brain to drain built up fluid to his stomach. Since then, he's been recovering at a rehab facility, until he begins radiation mid September on his brain to address the existing and new cancer cells.

Brian's family has been with him every day, especially his wife Amy and sister Susan. Together, they have created a network to support Brian during his treatment and healing .  We are praying for continued strength, healing, and hope. Stay up to date on progress here, and thank you for your prayers.

Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful - Hebrews 10:23

Journal entry by Susan Hochstetler

Tonight at 8pm Brian Wesley Truax went home to God after his long battle with cancer. He was at home with family around him, Mom holding his hand when he passed. He was a one of kind bright light, the center of our family. He will be missed tremendously.
