Journal entry by Greg McCracken

Brian...our beloved son, put up a monumental fight. Down to the end. He never gave up. His big heart never accepted that he wouldn't get better and come home. But his big heart just didn't have room for the fight with all the love it held.

Around 1pm 2/21/22 Brian developed a fever of 102.5. He started going downhill from there. A CT scan showed his TIPS Stent was plugged yet again. The bacterial infection coursing through his veins wouldn't let up and his pancreas threw out massive blood clots.
The team at St. Mary's tried valiantly to clear this Stent to get blood flowing but do to the blood thinners he was on they knew it was an extremely long shot at success.
Unfortunately, after the procedure, Brian developed a MASSIVE arterial bleed that couldn't be corrected through endoscopic procedure. The surgical team tried in vein to find a way to surgically repair the bleed but it was impossible.
Soon after, the medications used to control Brians ever escalating heart rate caused his liver to start to shut down.
Unit after unit of blood was pumped into him.
Another CT scan showed the bleed was so massive he was bleeding Into his stomach, intestines and pancreas.
Brians huge heart ❤️  tried and tried but finally couldn't do it anymore and at 2:30am on 2/23/2022 God called him home.
Brian is the strongest man I've ever known and Holly and I are proud to have been allowed to call him our son.

Until we meet again son. Please watch over us.   We love you now and forever.

Thank you all for the prayers, kind words, well wishes and support. And mostly the Love.

Brian never gave up on love. Love one another. It's what Brian would want.

Sincerely, Greg, Holly, Jennifer and our whole family.

God is good.
