Journal entry by Jill Dobie —
I haven’t updated in a while because there was nothing to report. Insurance approval for the specific type of radiation recommended (proton-beam radiation) took much longer than expected. But, the treatment was approved early last week and Brian started radiation last Thursday.
Th delay in approval was nothing more than an inconvenience. The tumor is slow growing and did not require immediate treatment.
He will have a total of 28 treatments and should be done in early April. The doctor explained that radiation will essentially “scar” the entire outside of the tumor so it cannot grow.
The treatments are at Mayo in Rochester and take about 30 minutes. He has been, and will continue to be, driving down himself unless he is too tired to do the driving.
So far, the treatments have been going well. We continue to be so grateful for all the prayers and support from everyone. Thank you!
Jill
