Newest Update

Journal entry by Amy Allen

Hi everyone! I am so sorry for the delay on update. We have been very busy. Brian was discharged a week ago tomorrow. He is enjoying being at home and we are thrilled he is here too.

Brian’s sister, Sarina, was here until Sunday and we miss her. She was a God send for sure. From holding me while I cried my eyes out to helping with Brian and Evalyn I can’t ever thank her enough! Man the loads of laundry she did for me!!

Life is much different now. Brian is doing great in his stroke recovery but we still have a long road ahead of us. He requires someone to be with him and to help him 24 hours a day. He is progressing with walking with the walker! Yay! The left arm is great until it just does what it wants to do and not what Brian is telling it to.

I am thankful for all of the prayers, love, support, meals, gift cards and visits. So many have helped in so many different ways. Cards arrived from people we were not expecting. Acquaintances showed love in so many ways.  My faith that there are still good people out there has been restored! We have been so blessed! I don’t want to name too many names for fear of missing someone but trust me I know who you are and I will always remember.

My parents are about 2 hours away but that didn’t stop from coming up when myself or Brian needed them. Including my Daddy coming to the hospital after the second stroke before the hospital even opened- had to sneak him in lol. Mama has provided so much  helpful medical insight and great advice when my brain could no longer process.

Easley Church if God has prayed for us and offered any help they could offer. We feel beyond blessed to have Pastor Steve, Chad and Sam providing prayers, visits and comfort to us. Sunday we both were so blessed to have the Pastor and others anoint Brian with oil and pray over us during church. This was the most peace I have felt in over a month.

Our LifeGroup is a wonderful group of God fearing and loving Mothers that have helped us in so many ways. Freezer full of meals, gift cards and taking Evalyn with them to meetings. Yes! We have felt the love and blessings throughout this!

We continue to ask for prayers as this journey is far from over. Brian has to have a Loop Monitor implanted Thursday to monitor his heart for a-fib. He remains on blood thinners from the blood clot he developed last Monday. Home Health has been less than expected but we will work through it.

Oh and if you are talking to Brian and he quits talking- don’t be offended- his attention is something we are still working on. If he smiles at you he is truly happy to see you as he can still not smile on demand- only when happy or laughing. Isn’t the brain amazing?!  😊
