This past week, Brian was taken out of his. posey bed and put into a regular hospital bed with light restrictions. This is to better equip him for when comes home. He is checked on every 15 minutes by his aid, and has two alarms on his bed in case he tries to get out.

A few days ago, Brian’s language therapist officially marked in his records that his cognitive deficit in certain areas went from moderate to mild. This was great to hear!

Brian has mastered walking up and down the  stairs on one foot and with assistance. He has also walked up to 300 feet, with his walker and assistance as needed, with intermittent toe touches on the left side and a few standing breaks. Brian has also mastered getting in and out of the car, bed, and wheel chair with human assistance. Some family members attended a care givers meeting on Friday and learned how to assist Brian with his transitions and walking for when he comes home.

Brian is now capable of taking care of his personal needs such as showering, brushing his teeth, brushing his hair, washing his face, etc, with minimal assistance.

Brian’s pelvis should be fully healed in  approximately 8 more weeks. Occupational therapy is working with him to loosen up his left arm, hand, and shoulder and strengthen these muscles. In this therapy, Brian is implementing his guitar!

This past week, Brian sang along to one of his favorite Grateful Dead songs and remembered all of the lyrics! He also laughed for the first time on Saturday!

To our surprise, Brian figured out his Facebook log in last night and posted a beautiful thank you to everyone. He is so grateful for the love, prayers, and support everyone has given him over the past 7 weeks. He is so grateful for all of his family and friends.

Brian has been working hard every day between his 4 therapies. He looks forward to his nightly routine of sitting outside with family and some of his close friends and playing games.

He is looking forward to transitioning home, hopefully later this week!

Thank you all for the continuous love and support!
