Home: 8 months!

Wow, it’s been a long time since we’ve posted a update. Brenna is doing great! 

We had her NICU follow up and a hearing check in the cities last week. She did awesome with both. Developmentally, she is right around her adjusted age-like they expect. Her hearing is unchanged, which is great. Because of the congenital CMV diagnosis, she will continue to have hearing checks every 3 months. But, we don’t need to go back to the NICU clinic for a year!

She is still doing OT once a week for feeding therapy. She’s making gains, but it is definitely a marathon not a race. It’s so awesome to see her use a new skill, and gag less and less. We practice oral feeding about 3 times a day at home using purées and meltables (like puffs).

Last week her PT decided we can start going every other week, instead of every week. She is crawling and pulling herself up, she’s also taken a couple of side steps holding on to things. Once she officially walks she will graduate from PT!

The home health nurse is also still coming once a week. Her weight has been good. She’s definitely petite, but her proportions are good. She’ll be switching from infant formula to some new toddler food this week through her g tube. We hope that makes her gain a little quicker. 

We’ve had a fun summer with equal amounts of busy and relaxing. Brenna has 8 teeth now and 1 more coming through. She got 3 of those teeth over the weekend. Her and I just went on a road trip to visit Nick at work (5.5 hours one way). She did so great and it was a lot of fun to see him.  We spent a lot of time last summer praying to do the things we have done this summer with her. We really feel so blessed!

She is currently 29 inches long and just passed the 17 pound mark!
