Journal entry by Nina Giacomini

The induction phase of treatment will last 28 days. At the end of the 28 days Brax will have another bone marrow biopsy done to determine how much leukemia is left in his blood. That will then determine his risk group and what the road map will look like over the next 3 years of treatment.

7/19/21 Brax went under anesthesia to have his port placed, a second bone marrow biopsy, a spinal tap, and to receive his first chemo treatment (cytarabine) to his spinal cord.  Later that day after his third transfusion he started his first dose of chemo (vincristine) through his port.

7/22/21 Brax received his first dose of Peg. He napped through the whole treatment and had zero reactions. They were happy with his progress, his fluid intake, and his blood counts so we were released. 👏🏼🙌🏼
