Brantley’s Story

Site created on June 26, 2023

On June 24th, Brantley was involved in a horrific accident on his grandparent's farm near Taylors Falls, where he was run over by a tractor, suffering significant head trauma.  He is currently in Gillette's Children's Hospital receiving the best care ever.   He has multiple fractures around his right eye and near his left ear, as well as superficial  abrasions, cuts and bruises.  He also had a pneumothorax, but we believe that is resolving.  He has alot of pain that they are trying to control right now, but is such a fighter!  He has seen many specialists, including NeuroSurgery, Plastic Surgery, Opthamology ENT and General.   There is concern for vision in his right eye, but there are signs of possible improvements. He was also recently moved from the PICU into the Neuro Science ward, which is a great thing.
This will be a long and difficult recovery for the Price family, and any support and encouragement you can give would be greatly appreciated.
We will try to update here as often as possible.

There is also a GoFundMe account set up for them at: https://gofund.me/34bf4769 for those that would like to support them with donations.  There will also be a meal train set up once the family can be reunited back at home-more to come on that!   Venmo can also be sent to: https://venmo.com/u/loger27 (https://venmo.com/u/loger27?fbclid=IwAR3vBSNgNoFJULlDMpNTRrKwKik2JrxEwIJGV_vDy9lmhKo7lhkLbLbx8l0) as well.

There is so much power in prayer everyone!! Please lift Brantley up in your daily prayers. He is one brave and courageous little boy!

Much love to all and thank you for your prayer, words of encouragement and support.

Newest Update

Journal entry by Destiny Loger

It's been a few days since I have posted an update, really...

Yesterday was such a blur, we had received horrible news regarding Brantley's right eye. The ophthalmologist we had seen, had terrible bedside manner and basically explained to us that Brantley's eye is showing signs of Optic Nerve Damage. And once that Optic nerve is damage, that there was basically no going back. That our son would simply be blind in that eye and we needed to do whatever we can to protect his "good" eye. His words exactly were "Sorry to be the bearer of bad news"... definitely not something you want to hear as a parent. I left that appointment feeling very hopeless and sad for my son. But I decided it was important to get a second opinion to see if another DR would be willing to try EVERYTHING they possibly could to help him regain at least some of his eyesight back. So huge thanks to those who reached out to me and gave me such wonderful leads. Brantley has a second appt with an Ophthalmologist next week at the U of M. The assistant reassured me that the Dr's will do whatever they can before deeming him blind in his right eye. When we met with the Plastics specialist, he seemed optimistic about him regaining his eyesight back as the swelling continued to go down. So, I will continue to go to the ends of the earth for our sweet boy.

Fast forward to today's appointment; we met with a medicine rehabilitation doctor that wanted to see how he was doing all around. She checked his reflexes and that seemed great and then she asked to see him walk in the hall and noticed that he still has a significant limp, so she said that she would like to order an x-ray of the hips to make sure they aren't missing anything. She told us that she would call us with results once they came back. Well, she called us and told us his hips looked great BUT she noticed that his pelvis (Iliac Crest) was a-symmetrical and that could potentially mean he has a fracture in his pelvis which could be contributing to the limp that he has. 😢 So tomorrow we will be going back down to Gilette's to get more extensive x-rays to confirm if it is a fracture or not. I am praying that it isn't! Our poor boy has been through enough!

Please Please Please... keep this boy in your thoughts and prayers! He NEEDS it.
