Brandon’s Story

Site created on September 8, 2021

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated, for words of hope and encouragement and other things like meal trains, errands, GoFundMe and more.

As you may know Brandon went to the emergency room on the morning of August 23rd for some kidney pain he was having, after a few tests in the emergency room, they decided to do a CT scan to see if there was a blood clot that was causing the pain. That's when they found the mass around his left kidney and that possibly spread to his lungs, and giving us the news that he has stage 4 cancer. This was news that no one would have expected and came in shock to everyone.  He was then admitted into the hospital where they monitored him and he received a biopsy for the mass around his left kidney.  He was then sent home after a few days with results pending. So all in one week he had a cancer diagnosis, 2 CT scans, MRI scan, biopsy, and two sleep studies. After the biopsy results of the mass came back, from what we know, he has Adrenalcortical Carcenoma, which is a rare form of cancer, that sits above the adrenal gland of the kidney. A PT scan will follow Friday the 10th along with a biopsy within the next week for the lungs. This is what we know from the Rocky Mountain Cancer Center in Thornton. We will be seeking a second opinion from the University as they will want to run their own test and do their due diligence.
He has taken this time to reflect and spend time with his family, friends, and has even been letting his wife Devin try to cook, because if you know Brandon, he loves his kitchen and loves to cook!  He is very thankful for the love and support he has received from friends, family and the community he’s known since he moved to Brighton in 2001.

We will keep everyone updated with what's next, how he is feeling, how our family is doing, pictures and more!

*We will have a GOFUNDME set up in the next few days

Newest Update

Journal entry by devin shea

Good morning friends and family! I wanted to jump on and update everyone with  a few things coming up and also on Brandon!

Brandon is currently admitted at UC Health due to an infection, they are treating it and we are hoping he can come home in a day or so! He is staying strong and catching up on Ted Lasso lol. If you have reached out to him or I and we haven't responded, please know we see the messages/calls and we are VERY THANKFUL for the love. Sometimes its hard to talk about this or what's going on and to even respond, but we see it and it helps so much! So thank you. He is scheduled to complete more rounds of chemo in the next up coming months, and of course will keep up the fight!

We have our benefit for Brandon coming up on Tuesday November 16th @ 8:30pm at the Brighton Texas Road House. It will be a $10 entry per person, that will be good for food, and the food will be pork sliders, chicken sliders, sides, chips, and a drink. We will have a LIVE auctioneer there with over 10 awesome baskets and prizes to auction off!

On November 20th we have our cycle ride, that is 30 a person and it will be the most fun spin class that you will ever be apart of! After the spin class we have some treats for you for completing and joining us!

Thank you again for all of your continued love and support and kind words and prayers! We appreciate all of it more than you know, we know we cant do this alone and we are so thankful for the support we have been shown!

Thank you all.💚
