Brandi’s Story

Site created on October 25, 2022

Thank you for taking the time to join us on this journey that is before us.  We want to start out by shouting from the mountain top that God is GOOD! We do not know why cancer has entered our lives, but we are confident in the knowledge that He is in control, and that there is a plan far greater than we can see today. We believe this is the most important anchor for this path. Our faith is not shaken, and in fact it is strengthened. There isn't space here to describe how God has orchestrated our preparation for this moment in time. But it is safe to say that He has provided.  The scripture above from Romans has been a theme for the entire first week of our knowledge of this cancer. It has been shared personally many times from many close friends and was even in the sermon on the first Sunday after we learned of the diagnosis.

So, as this all unfolds, we ask you to pray alongside us that our faith will continue to be strengthened and that God's love and grace will be evident in all that happens from here.  We also ask that you pray with us for Brandi's healing, for her comfort, for minimal side effects from treatment, and for our family's peace along on the way.

We will never be able to share with you how much that means to us.  Each of you who takes the time to follow us here are greatly treasured.

Journal entry by Ty Flippin

This is the face of a woman who has beaten cancer.

It’s the face of a woman who has calmly fought through a year of assault on her body, both by cancer and the methods of treating and removing it. It’s the face of a woman whose faith has never been shaken, who has trusted God for healing and perseverance. It’s also the face of my wife, best friend and favorite person on the planet.

Today was the very last day of cancer treatment. As the last round of Keytruda (immunotherapy) comes to a close, we celebrate. We are headed to New Mexico to see the Fall colors of the mountains. Then, we will weave our way back to Family Weekend with Hannah at WT this coming weekend.

And so this journey comes full circle. You may recall that we got this diagnosis the week before Family Weekend last year. The banner picture on this site was taken on our drive home from that trip. And now, we will celebrate the victory over cancer at the same event for Hannah’s senior year.

Please join us in celebrating and giving thanks to God for healing.  We are grateful to everyone who has been a part of this process.

There is a bit more of this story to tell and that will happen soon. Stay tuned!

Gratefully,
Ty
