Journal entry by Marcus Dennis —
Hello everyone,
I’m sure you can imagine that I needed some time before starting Tamoxifen. It is a hormone therapy that removes estrogen from my body in the hopes of preventing the breast cancer from coming back. I took a month off. But alas, I had to start it on Sunday. I’m doing ok so far. I will take it for 5 years.
I also met with my plastic surgeon to discuss my final surgery. The breast implant option Marcus and I wanted is no longer available. The company voluntarily recalled their product since there was concern it was causing lymphoma. I DON’T WANT THAT!!!!!
We are left with three options.
1. No breasts at all.
2. Another type of implant. (Think Hollywood movie star. ) Hope that image helped 😉 2 week recovery.
3. A diep flap procedure where fat from my abdomen is used to create breasts. 6 week recovery.
Needless to say, I’m not looking forward to another surgery. We are praying about the decision and trying to keep a long term view. Please join us in prayer for wisdom, courage, and timing.
Surgery will be in the summer of 2020.
“The Lord is my light and salvation. In whom shall I fear?”
Love to you,
Brandi
