Hello!

It has been a hot minute since the last update on dad, but I am home for about a week and a half so here is what dad has been up to! Dad has been enjoying finally being back at home now for about three weeks. He has been keeping busy with visits from friends and family as well as therapy three days out of the week. Therapy consists of speech, physical, and occupational where he mainly is focusing on his vision to the left side and working towards moving his left leg. I have been able to take my dad to his appointments while home and seeing his progress and hard work has truly been the greatest joy. This work he is doing is not easy in any way, but dad has the best spirit and attitude of any person I know. He shows up each day to therapy ready to work hard and listen to those helping him because he is so ready to get back to work and play. Most of the work he does in therapy is learning how to work his left leg as well as how to balance himself utilizing both legs. Seeing my dad walking again is an absolute miracle, and we all are so happy to continue seeing his progress so that soon enough he'll be walking all on his own again. I finally got to give my dad a proper hug this trip and it was the nicest surprise when I first got home. My dad has always been a great hugger, but this was truly the best hug ever.

There are several goals that dad has set for himself for the journey ahead, so he is working hard every day to go back to work and be able to visit me in Florida as well as my brother and sister in law down in Georgia. Today in the car on the way to therapy dad was already looking at flights for August of next year to fly down to Florida, so he is giving himself a timeline for sure. It's extremely encouraging to see him setting such wonderful goals for himself because this will push him each and every day no matter the obstacles that he faces. My mom has been doing a wonderful job taking care of my dad and herself. She has truly stepped up in such a loving and patient way as she helps my dad day to day. I can always trust that dad will be well loved and taken care of because he has the best wife doing so.

Dad and I have spent lots of time together this week just hanging out and watching shows together with the occasional trip to get a coffee from Starbucks or Dunkin'. We even had a wonderful breakfast making Mickey shaped waffles courtesy of the new waffle maker from Jonathan and Allisa. I have loved being able to do the smallest things like sitting on the couch and watching Disney documentaries together because at least now we are sitting together at home. We are all so thankful that through pray, the medical teams, and dad's hard work towards getting better that we are able to enjoy being together at home. Jonathan will be home soon as well, so dad is really getting spoiled seeing his kids back at home for a bit.

Dad is ready to get back to all the 'normals' of life, but he is keeping the most positive attitude throughout the process and pushing himself to exercise at home and in therapy so that his goals become a reality. We ask for continued prayer that dad continues progressing in therapy and that those goals he has set for himself come true in good time. Thank you to everyone who has prayed, shared a meal with us, or just sent dad a message. He, as well as the rest of our family, has felt so loved and cared for throughout this whole journey.
