Brad & Melissa’s Story

Site created on July 22, 2023

Friends and family, thank you for your continued prayers and support. Brad had a stroke this morning and is in ICU. He is showing good signs of recovery, but the next several days will shed more light on his overall recovery and prognosis. Brad and his wife Mel have three young kids and even with the best outcome, they will need a lot of support.
Many have already shown much love and support and the family greatly appreciates this. Thank you for all of the prayers and hopeful messages. This page was set up as a place to check in on Brad’s progress and share prayers, support and encouraging thoughts with Brad’s family. Some have asked about providing meals and gift cards. If you’re interested in helping with food or other expenses, please use Mel’s Venmo located on this page under “Ways to Help/Support Links” or on the Faceboook post. Thank you for your continued prayers, thoughts and support.

Same as posted  on FB tonight…
Today, we visited Brad at Shirley Ryan, and it was a fantastic visit!! We were there during his physical therapy session, and we were truly impressed by his strength, especially considering that it was only his second day undergoing this specific therapy. He will really start getting into his physical therapy more now and we're excited to see him progress!

I brought along the photos that everyone generously shared with me - THANK YOU! Some friends even went the extra mile to get images of Brad's workspace at State Farm and his favorite spots when he's in the office. Brad was very happy to see all the photos, and before we left, he made sure he knew where I had placed the photos so he could look at them again later. Thank you to everyone who dedicated their time to send me photos!

He told us that he appreciated us being there and looking out for him. The outpouring of love and support from everyone for Brad and his family has been truly remarkable. We want you all to know how much we value your kindness and support. I told Brad that we all know he would do the same for us - he’s that kind of guy. We also made sure to let him know that everyone is looking out for Mel and the kids, which, I know, is an ongoing concern for him.

We reassured him that we are all rooting for his continued recovery, and everyone’s prayers are with him. Thank you all so much!

For those who have asked how they can help Mel and the kids - I have shared her Venmo in the comments below. This can help offset some of the expenses for gas to get to Chicago every week and meals. Ty!
