Bowen’s Story

Site created on December 1, 2020

We decided to create Bowen a CaringBridge website so we can keep family and friends updated on his journey with KDVS in one place. We appreciate your support and words of encouragement more than words can express. We are so thankful for each one of you and are proud to have you as a part of Bowens village.

Newest Update

Journal entry by Leslie Maxon

It’s been a while since I’ve done a Bowen update. Fortunately, minus some very minor “episodes” in his sleep Bowen has not had any seizure activity since Christmas and his anti seizure meds have been working for him. He’s had no side effects and is still our happy baby boy.
In January he received a walker to test drive and he has completely excelled way faster than any of us expected him too. We are still waiting for insurance to approve one of his own but I’ve been told we should be getting much closer to having one ordered by next week, so fingers crossed! He definitely loves being able to move around on his own and is constantly wanting us to follow him in circles around the house.
Over the month of April he has been going to Gillette for a feeding clinic session once a week and has made great strides in that area as well. His eating technique and speed has improved so much he has graduated from weekly appointments to monthly.
This week he got ear tubes put in and was also diagnosed with mild conductive hearing loss. His team is hopeful that the tubes will allow it to eventually correct itself. As of now he has a follow up appointment in 6 weeks with a repeat hearing test and will then have one every 6 months.
Overall he has been doing amazing and we couldn’t be prouder of our sweet boy who still has no clue his world is about to rocked with a sibling.
