Journal entry by Ashley Claiborne —
Hello,
It's been a little over a month so we wanted to give you an update on Bonnie. We are happy to say that Bonnie is much more stable since the last time we posted. Medically she has been doing really well. She also continues to do PT, OT, and speech therapy and is making improvements. She no longer has any dietary restrictions which is excellent, and she also is more understanding of her deficits which continue to be her mobility in left side, and her coordination. Bonnie's speech is at functional level, however, her cognitive assessment was scored quite low, they are planning on doing a more thorough assessment as a follow up in the coming weeks. Bonnie has been very emotional and will begin psychological therapy soon.
Bonnie was really unhappy at the first rehab nursing home so at the end of last week we had her transferred to Southview Acres in west st. Paul where many family members and even her late husband, Richard, had been cared for. She is still adjusting and trying to understand all of the changes to her life and lifestyle. Today we had a careplan phone conference and we are confident in Southview to be a good fit for Bonnie.
Bonnie is now Covid Vaccinated and is allowed visitors, for her mental health she really needs to see her friends and family, if anyone is interested in visiting please reach out! If you are unable to visit her please send a card and picture so she can at least see her loved ones often.
We appreciate all that have kept Bonnie in your thoughts and prayers and contiue to do so. She still has a long road ahead.
Best,
The Claiborne Family
