Bonnie’s Story

Site created on September 10, 2019

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

We have put on our armor and are preparing for battle.  Why Bonnie? She is one of the most healthy people we know !! She is so tough and if anyone can conquer this disease  it’s her  !!

Yesterday was tough but hopeful at the same time  ..... we found out yesterday that Bonnie  is Stage 4 adeno carcinoma.  It is the most common type of lung cancer and most common in non smokers.  She is not a candidate for surgery or radiation.  They are doing mutation markers to see what the best treatment plan will be.  Best case scenario is she will be on an oral medication.  Second she will have to have immunotherapy every three weeks.  Last would be chemo and immunotherapy.  She will know results by September 18th.

They are doing blood tests to check for mutations there as well and be sure about the treatments and can monitor when medications are started.  In the meantime, they will do a pet scan and mri of the brain-liver  as pet scans don't show anything in the brain or liver.  So that's all we know for now.

Please pray for a best case scenario and that the mutation is a match !

Journal entry by Bonnie Panasuk

Prayer Warriors.  Another 3 months has past since last PET scan.  Words quoted directly from my oncologist “Bonnie, celebrate, we are seeing exactly the results we want to see”!!!  Whooo Hooo.  Unfortunately the mutation lung cancer will never completely be gone, but what he is saying is, it is NOT growing in the lungs (maintained); there are NO other indications of cancer any place else in my body; and medication is working great!  The visit couldn’t have been better.  I will not have to see him again for another 3 month's!

Hope everyone is doing well during this COVID-19 quarantine period.  Hang in there everyone!  Positive thoughts and find joy in every day!

Now faith means that we are confident of what we hope for, convinced of what we do not see.”  Hebrews 11:1.

Hugs and Love to all!!!
