Journal

The past few months I've been having chemo treatment for three consecutive days every fourth week.  The side effects have increased significantly with each treatment. In addition to fatigue, loss of appetite and nausea, brain fog has gotten much worse. I had several days of rapid heart rate and irregularity due to the stress chemo puts on my body.

A CT scan yesterday showed no new tumors, no increase in size for any of the existing tumors and a slight shrinkage of a couple of the largest tumors. These results will allow a break from treatment for a minimum of three months. While there could be some benefit to continuing treatment for another month or two before a break, it would be a trade-off with worsening toxicity and the accompanying side-effects, so we've decided to start the break now.  I'm very excited to have an opportunity to feel good for a while and to give my body a chance to recover.  Another CT scan in three months will determine if I need to restart chemo, but my prayer is that I can have another long chemo break.

In mid-March, Todd and I were able to take a driving trip to Austin, Texas, to visit Troy and Hetal.  We enjoyed seeing the famous Texas Blue Bonnets in bloom as well have many other wild flowers.  Most of our time was spent at Troy and Hetal's home, but we also spent 6 days at a time-share resort in the hill country west of Austin.  We feel blessed the Lord has allowed us to have these opportunities.

We continue to be thankful for the Lord's care over us and for the encouragement He sends in so many different ways - through answered prayer, through his word, through texts, cards, and the thoughtfulness of friends.

Love,  Bonnie
