Good morning, friends. Here is a quick update on Dad's (Bob's) journey fighting and overcoming cancer.

Today, March 2 is (hopefully) the date of Dad's last chemotherapy treatment. It's crazy to think that this journey that started in late October may finally be coming to an end. Many emotions and thoughts are running through our minds, but I think today I'll focus on gratitude and excitement.

I am so thankful that every single thing that needed to happen when Mom and Dad received his diagnosis did happen in the exact timing and order it needed to. That's God's hand and sovereignty on display. And we've seen Him move in so many ways over these past 5 months.

My family is also so thankful for all of you, a network of friends and family who have offered so much encouragement, FOOD and prayer for Dad. I happen to think my Mom and Dad are two of the finest people to ever walk the earth. It's been awesome to see so much love poured out for them (and us) over these past several months. We will never be able to adequately thank you for everything you've said, prayed and done.

We are all excited because, Lord willing, today is the last time my Dad will ever receive treatment for lymphoma. We understand the possibility of things coming back, and we have full trust that God will provide whatever is needed in the future just like we've seen Him faithfully provide during this season. 

I'm excited to see Mom and Dad get back to doing some of the things they love. In talking with them this morning, they're looking forward to some travel, lots of geeky band stuff, becoming more involved in mentoring and at Bryant Elementary and doing things together like riding bikes. I am excited that a clean bill of health will mean they can come visit my family in Mississippi again!

We have lots of questions, and hopefully they will get some answers today. What's the plan for getting a final post-chemo PET Scan? When will Dad get his surgically-implanted port removed? How soon is it safe for him to resume different things? What's the long-term plan for making sure this cancer is gone and staying gone?

Many of you who have been through this in your own lives probably know some of these answers, but I have full confidence that Dr. Hsu and his amazing team will walk Mom and Dad through the next steps with patience and clarity just like they've shown since October. What a Godsend that man and the Texas Oncology team has been!
