Journal entry by Joelle Tegwen —
Kathy, Brian, and I got out of town together for the holiday. It was good to be away. To be in a place without all of the sorrow, without all of the memories. The sorrow in our hearts was enough.
When Brian and I decorated for Christmas it was hard. It was hard to know I wouldn't be celebrating with either of them this year. I love the act of decorating. It was bittersweet this year.
I'm grateful for all of you. Your support held me steady in a most turbulent time. You helped me see when I needed to take care of myself and gave me the encouragement I needed to continue to give Bob all I could.
On this New Years Eve, I'm ready for a new beginning. I'm ready to find my new normal. There is no going back to the old one.
May 2024 bring you peace, joy, and love.
