Journal entry by Robert Potratz —
HiDe Ho,
Here we go again. I met with my Oncologist this past Wednesday. I left not really knowing much more than I did before I got there. They need to identify what the cancer is. Either of two things. First it could be a reoccurance of my esophageal cancer from ten years or a new lung cancer. Why does it matter you ask with a perplexed look on your face and a head scratch? Well because there are as many different treatments as there are types of cancer. A chemo treatment for one may not be effective on the other. So this is what I know. The Monday before last I had a biopsy done to confirm what had been suspected. If enough of that biopsy sample is left they can do a molecular DNA test, which didn't exist ten years ago, to help determine the type. In either case I will need radiation and chemo treatments. If it's on my lung surgery may be required. Whatever the case this ain't my first cancer rodeo. I'm cool with it. Don't want to go through it again but it is what it is. Worrying about it won't change the outcome, whereas a positive attitude can.
Stay tuned
