Journal entry by Matt Milbrandt

Four weeks has gone by. Exactly 4 weeks. Still doesn't feel real at times. The hole in our hearts is huge and so is the void in our lives. Sometimes it feels like 4 weeks sometimes it feels like it just happened. Been going through old photos a lot lately as we pack up to move and one thing really hit me. My dad really lived a fun life. Especially after 2009ish. He really seemed free and full of life. Loved life full throttle. I also had a lot of time to reflect on things. With dad's previous marriage being a real challenge to relationships in his life we didn't have a much of a relationship. After his divorce he really did make it a point to mend those fences and be there. Over the last 15 years my dad was an incredible father and grandfather. He really showed his true self and his heart of gold. Always there for everything. The last 15 years he blazed a path for me to follow and I intend to. My dad definitely led a fun filled life. Just so sad it ended way too soon. Lesson learned from all of this is that you must live a good fun life because you never know when it's your time. Be good to others and yourselves.
