Day 29

Bob has left the building…the hospital that is! On Friday, February 3 Bob was discharged from inpatient rehab. Bob returned home to Siren, Wisconsin with Nancy.

He will continue outpatient treatment for both speech and occupational therapy in Grantsburg, Wisconsin for several months. The main goal of these therapies will be to support and rehab his cognitive functions. Bob’s physical health is great, the doctor during the discharge meeting said it’s actually quite miraculous he is doing so well physically. He is still suffering from confusion and short-term memory loss. We often get asked about Bob’s memory and the prognosis. While in the hospital several times we were reminded that his brain is healing, and he needs time. We are hoping that Bob being home will provide him some really good restful sleep, which his body needs very much right now.

This week Bob will start his outpatient schedule and therapies in Grantsburg. As Bob and Nancy settle into their new routine at home, we ask that you please be mindful of this transition and text or call Nancy to schedule times to visit.

The road ahead is long; however, we know that God’s plan is much bigger and better than our own and we are holding tight to that! We ask that you continue to pray for Bob’s recovery. We continue to pray for his brain to heal and his short-term memory to improve. We pray that Bob rests and knows his current limitations due to his injuries. And once again we know that the progress Bob has made in this last month would simply not be possible without God. We pray a prayer of gratitude for the healing that only God can do.

We want to take a moment to thank you all for your continued support, generosity, and prayers. From the text messages and phone calls to the meals, donations, and everything in between we are so thankful and couldn’t have made it through the last month without you. There are not words to truly convey our gratitude.

“Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
