Hello All,
Dad has had a wonderful and comfortable 24 hours in his cool comfortable hospital room.  The unit we are on is the step down from I.C.U. which allows him to be carefully monitored but also get more rest and address the most prioritized care issues while watching things that are going better a little less stringently.  Dad's heart condition remains in the forefront of his treatment at this time.
We are so thankful that he has relief from suffering through treatments and that no matter what happens he has little or no physical pain.  I left Dad for the first time in days so that I could go reset myself for a couple of hours.  He continued to rest well but right before I got back he had another heart rhythm episode despite the meds which have been addressing high heart rate.  Dad had no symptoms during this episode other than the entire medical team descending on him so he was a little surprised when it happened!  I came in just as this was over and am here now where he continues to be comforted with ice chips and love while remaining just as calm and comfortable as he has all along.
Accepting and coping with decreased strength and mobility are continued conversations daily while setting small goals and working on tasks given to restore as much as possible to his routines.  Dad absolutely continues to be humorous and to show gratitude and kindness to all the medical staff who so diligently works on him to provide comfort, counsel, and care.
Forever full of strong faith to see him through this part of his life, he remains a miracle to me in so many ways.  I am so proud of his fight and effort and his acceptance and peace for both sides of the coin.  He is a level headed and kind man.  We look forward to a good night of rest knowing we are and will do all we can to be and do our best in all things with God's help and grace.  Love, Elizabeth
