Yesterday morning Dad's care team gently laid out the facts for us. No chance for recovery. And so, we made the heart-crushing decision to remove him from life support. His ventilator was removed at about 4.15 yesterday afternoon.
True to form for Dad, he muscled his way through the night, breathing independently. He no longer has any cognitive abilities, but hits body is still as strong as an ox.
We are just waiting and watching now. Sitting with him and talking to him during these last days that he's spending on this earth. We don't know at this point if he has one day left or a hundred. Only time will tell and... As Mother said last night... Now it's up to God.
Thought and prayers are deeply appreciated.
