Newest Update

Journal entry by Bobbi Jo Dziuk

I know it’s been awhile since I have had any updates in my journal. I have continued to heal, started going back to the gym and just enjoying the down time. I have loved the nice weather that we have had in January.

I had been informed by my surgeon on December 19th, that returning to my career as a paraprofessional or working with dementia patients was not a good option, since there was a possibility of being pushed or hit, causing further injury to my healing head.  It will take at least a year for my skull to fuse completely, and after the post surgery problems I experienced, I was in complete agreement!

I really reflected on what I have loved about each of my work places in the last 10 years. I have been applying  for jobs for a few weeks and was getting frustrated by several rejection emails or no response at all. 10 days ago, I sent in a resume, application and references to a company I was interested in and within 20 minutes had an invite for an interview a few days out. I was excited but skeptical. After mentioning to a friend what company I was interviewing for, he said,”they are amazing! You will love them! I interned there awhile back for my masters degree!”I knew he was a good judge about this and was even more excited for the opportunity.
Interviewed this past Monday, I thought it went very well. I was told it would be 2 weeks before they made their decision….yesterday (4 days later) afternoon they called and offered me the position! (Happy dance time!)

I will be working for an organization that contracts with western metro, city park and rec departments, community education and other agencies to develop, create and implement programs for individuals with disabilities. I am so EXCITED!!!! I joked to Pat that I will get paid to attend day camp, fish and kayak, as well as helping others. 😍. Thankful to find a place that I can be of service, be creative and feed my soul! Love it! ❤️

I have several doctor’s appointments in the next few weeks, so mid March will probably be the start time.

Thank you so much for all of the texts, encouragement and love throughout this journey.
