It’s been a long time! I’m sure everyone is looking for a formal update.
Marilyn and I accompanied Dad to his 9 month oncology check yesterday, and it went great! Dr. Kwon is pleased with all of Dad’s preliminary test results that came in and even cleared him to hunt this season (with some minor restrictions) as well as sow bird for the entire winter if he and Marilyn choose to. This is huge progress for them both as they wish to resume their normal lives.
I haven’t made a formal announcement here before, but I took Dad to see a neurologist over the summer. Doctors suspect that he may have Parkinson’s Disease and that could be the cause of his mobility issues as well as impacting his memory and cognitive skills. He has completed a physical therapy program to help his physical strength, endurance and mobility. While there is no cure for Parkinson’s, Dad has started a medication that can treat his symptoms. There seems to be minimal improvements. We’re unsure if this is due to the physical therapy or medication, but we think it may be a combination.
What does this mean for all of you? Well, Dad and Marilyn would love to see visitors again. Give them a call, or stop on by. You may just catch Dad in the garage tinkering on a car or in the yard mowing the lawn! Thank you for all of your love and support!
