Journal entry by Janelle Johnson —
It is with a heavy heart I share the unbelievable news that Blake left this earth on Sunday evening. While we celebrate freedom from the bodily imprisonment of ALS, the loss of my partner in life and the plans we had for the future is so hard to accept. The kids/ grandkids and I, and everyone who loved him, are simply heartbroken.
Kendra, Reece, and Walker arrived Saturday morning and, along with brother Brent, we spent the day playing Blake's playlists, sharing memories, and sharing a good bottle of scotch in his honor. They were all able to spend time by his side and say their earthly goodbyes. There are no words adequate to describe how they carried me through those final days and hours. Reece was able to stay in Florida with me for a few days, and we were blessed to see this beautiful sunset on the day we saw Blake for the last time.
Thanks to everyone who left messages and memories here and through Facebook. I read every one to him and many of them more than once. He LOVED hearing from you! I will be returning to Minnesota the week of February 19. We are planning a visitation Thursday, February 22 and his funeral Friday, February 23 at Olson Funeral Home in Fergus Falls. I look forward to seeing everyone and hearing the many memories of Blake as we celebrate his life that weekend.
Love and blessings to you all!
