Journal

Hello everyone on this beautirul Wednesday!  I hope you are having a wonderful day!  Today I spoke with Dad and he is trying to get used to life after a heart attack.  Many of you have experienced something similar or the same.  An event with a required long recovery for a person who is normally active to the point of near exhaustion, is a shock to their morale.  He is the quintessential baby boomer.  His work ethic is a blessing.  In this case, it might sometimes be a challenge.

He still has pain and can't help but wonder if it is as a result of the event, or is it new?  He has diligently been in contact with his doctor and is seeking direction for a successful recovery .  I think the recovery will be defined along the way.  The rehab beginning will be based on healing and stamina.  I have read that it is very much an individual process.  Initially the doctor told me that Dad will need to have some echocardiograms and tests to observe how much heart function he will regain and how fast it is healing.  The doctor explained that the heart will establish new pathways within it's vascular network to feed the tissues that have been affected by losing downstream blood flow from the area that was blocked.  He stated that some of the tissues will grow stronger and function in place of the necrotized (deceased tissues).  The areas that grow stronger will establish appropriate blood flow according to their need.  It is amazing that the body can heal like this!

I would ask you to keep healing, emotional strength, and patience as a theme for prayer for Mom and Dad both.  The things that comes to your mind when there is uncertainty about the path can be discouraging.  I am grateful for friends and family calling, writing, and visiting to keep the positive cadence.  I am grateful today that Morgan is there with Mom and Dad helping and loving on them!  We are grateful for Holly and her willingness to help out with tasks and errands!  She is a gift to our family!

We love you all!  Thank you and please keep praying.  I will keep you informed as always, though a little less frequent.  May God bless you!

Love one another, take care of each other!  😊❤️
