I have recently been diagnosed with breast cancer.  Treatable and not life treating but serious non less.  And that is why I started this page to update and load my corner in a fight I am sure to win.
I surfed on my birthday, and when I came home, my left nipple was irritated.  I had a rash guard on, and my right nipple did not hurt, so I found it odd.  I felt for a lump, and sure enough, on my 60th birthday (June 6th), I find a lump in my breast.  I was with one of my closest friends in the Bahamas (Danni ), who had breast cancer and had removed it.  She suggested I get it checked out as the lump appeared so suddenly.
Megan and I tried caster oil and heat pads, hoping it was a clogged lymph node or duct.   During that time, I talked with another close friend, Mark Titcomb, a seasoned medical professional who made me promise that I would get a biopsy if the lump did not reduce in size after a week of my castor oil treatments.  And on Thursday, August 11th, I was informed I had breast cancer.  They informed me that it was a grade three cancer that is aggressive cancer and that I would need to take quick action.  I am now set for surgery to take out the tumor on September 22nd.
So surfing saved my life!
I am fortunate that the Shaw Cancer Center is just a few miles from my home in Vail.  Shaw is a state-of-the-art cancer center with the ultimate resources to win the battle.  My surgeon Dr. Julie L. Barone, specializes in this particular cancer, and we feel we are in great hands.
My goal is to kill all the cancer cells and go surfing!

Journal entry by Bill Wright

It is all about rehab now.  I am doing PT, yoga, acupuncture, massage, and reiki to get the blood and lymph systems stimulated.  I take my rehab seriously and feel I am making great progress.  Megan with her positive sunshine personality coupled with green drinks, wheatgrass shots, and amazing salads is what truly makes a difference in my life.  She has been amazing throughout this journey and it is love that is the true healer.  We are headed to the Bahamas in a little over a week.  It will be a focused time with Megan and me in the Carribian waters - the ultimate in healing waters.  I so look forward to going "home" to Eleuthera to visit with my close friends and beautiful and spiritual local Bahamians.  It is a magical place that is sure to set my mind and body in a nurturing environment.
