Bill’s Story

Site created on July 25, 2019

Bill suffered a blood clot in his brain in the early morning, Saturday, July 20th while at a friend's cabin with his wife in Northern Wisconsin. We will post updates as we get them, keeping in mind that recovery from traumatic brain injuries can be very slow, and progress small.

Newest Update

Journal entry by Scott Reinhard

Dad wanted to tell everyone hello, Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays, and to thank all of the friends and family who have been thinking about him and the family this year.

First, he wants to assure you all that he is doing well. He is at home and goes to rehab at RHI twice a week. He's walking, can go up and down stairs. The location of the stroke affects his speech, but that improves daily.

As you know, Dad suffered a blood clot that caused a stroke while on vacation in Northern Wisconsin in late July. This resulted in a fall. He was taken to the Marshfield Clinic in Central Wisconsin where he spent about 3 weeks in the ICU recovering from brain surgery and a procedure to fix the broken vertebrae in his neck. He was flown to Indianapolis, spent a few weeks in an acute care facility and then spent 5 weeks at the wonderful Rehab Hospital of Indiana (RHI). Due to his incredible hard work, Dad left RHI walking, something we couldn't have imagined only a few weeks earlier.

He wants to thank you again for all of the support.

Dad likes to hear from everyone, feel free to email (bill.reinhard@gmail.com) or text. Check before making phone calls.
