Journal entry by Bill & Suzi Oberman —
A new update here as we just spoke with the nurse practitioner at his oncologist's office prior to his immunotherapy session. To this point everything has been going very well, apart from Bill having to take Thyroid medication due to side effects from the therapy.
The GOOD news is that there is no cancer anywhere in his body currently. The lymph node that had been of concern is actually shrinking. Hallelujah!
And now for the other potential problems.....
He has developed a rash, which he is inquiring about now. it's all over his body, primarily on his arms and legs, and itches.
They are ordering an ultrasound of his kidneys as there is inflammation that is concerning but not alarming. He also has kidney stones and gall stones, neither of which are troubling him currently.
His bloodwork is all good other than his blood sugar being a bit higher than it was, needing to keep him away from too many carbs - his preferred snack and sometimes even substitute meal. And fats of course, as those will aggravate his gall bladder.
Also has diverticulosis, where he is forming pockets in his bowel. If they get infected that's another issue to deal with. So no foods that will contribute to that as well .... as he told the NP, armed with this information he's going to be eating nothing but salads and lean meats!
So lots to pray about and lots of dietary tweaking to keep him in fighting shape.
Thanking you for continuing on with us through this journey!
Love,
Bill, Suzi & Maggie xoxoxo
