Bill’s Story

Site created on May 30, 2018

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting. Bill has recently been diagnosed with small cell lung cancer that has metastasized to his brain. He has successfully undergone surgery to remove two tumors on his brain and is doing whole brain radiation to treat the rest. Will update as we know more.

Journal entry by Robin Berg

Last week I had good news about the radiation treatments to my head showing good results, and the chemo had to be changed to immunotherapy on my body and results are also good.  Evidence of lesions and cancer to brain and body have either shrunk or are no longer visible!  Today I received a preliminary report from my oncologist about a bone marrow biopsy that was done last Thursday and they cannot find bone cancer (they wanted to rule it out).

I wont get churchy on you, or judge, but God is great and God is good!!!

The next course of action is 1 more immunotherapy treatment soon to finish that process and continue to try to regain my leg strength and balance.  The thought process is that the tumors that were removed from the back of the head may have caused damage to the neurological system.  Or, there is something called paraneoplastic syndrome which is the body’s self defense system to fight cancer.  There is no test for this.  Either way, I am grateful for my current condition and only hope it can improve more.

This is all for now, I have already said too much.  Good night or good morning and I am always thinking of all of you.  With all my love and thank you.

Love

Bill
