Bill’s Story

Site created on February 9, 2019

On Thursday, February 7th,  Judy and Bill were at a follow up appointment after Bills eye surgery, Bill  was getting short of breath while sitting to see the doctor. They were across the street from the hospital and decided to leave the clinic and go to the ER instead. Any further away, the Doctors said Bill wouldn't have made it. He left the hospital in Grand Rapids on Thursday and was then transferred by ambulance to St. Lukes in Duluth because they could do more at  St. Lukes.  Bill had a coronary angiogram. He has a 3 vessel disease. 100% Right Coronary Artery.  80% Left anterior descending and 70% somewhere else.  The doctors were surprised he is alive.  He will need triple coronary bypass surgery as well as the Aortic valve. His heart is pumping (EF) at 37% and will need to get it pumping 50% before they will do surgery. Doctors are hopeful that getting the extra water weight off, the EF will improve. If not, they may choose other options. Hopefully surgery next week.  He is having some problems with getting circulation in his right foot since the angio, so they are doing an Ultrasound now. As of Saturday, February 9th, he is extubated.
