Newest Update

Journal entry by Leah Barr

Well it’s about time for an update, especially since we have some news we are excited about!

First, let me say that we are both staying well, and that is entirely due to the fact that we stay home and go nowhere else.  Groceries delivered to the lobby of the condo building, meals ordered out the same way, and on our few doctor’s outings, the doctor offices are very scrupulous about taking temps, masks for everyone in the building, wide spacing, and frequent disinfecting.

Next let me report a very positive development in the area we were most concerned about:  we got him in Physical and Occupational Therapy!  And it’s the best we could hope for:  it is with Emory, and more specifically their Brain Health Center (there are many parts of Emory that give PT & OT), a huge plus because a stroke is in fact a brain injury. Through my constant pestering, I got through last week when they were just reopening — but only for their previously existing patients.  I whined and wheedled and told Bill’s sad story of no therapy for 2 months due to the virus and losing ground from all the progress he’d made in Rehab...and they let him in!  So last week he was evaluated and tomorrow (Friday) he will have his first full sessions — Yay!

As with most, we are very tired of being at home and not being with friends, etc. but we are grateful we have a safe place to be and to have our health.  Hope all is well with all of you.

I’m attaching a photo from our occasional cocktail in the park next to our building, now that we have some beautiful spring weather.
