Newest Update

Journal entry by Amy Berglund

cancer free.  Whew...

Amy here...I know it's been quite a while since an update.  It's hard to update when not a lot changes.  Chemo, pray, sick, start to feel better...repeat.

We have had soooo many people pray for my mom and be so kind to our family.  Asking how she was or how we were, sending prayers, making us smile or laugh, Jake making special accommodations so that she could be comfortable to be able to watch Noah race, Corwin making stickers, Internet (mom's work) for supporting her leave and then extended leave, and...and...and...  Each of these never, not even once, went unnoticed or unappreciated.

We aren't the first family, and certainly won't be the last, to go through cancer diagnosis, treatments, the cancer battle.  It's tough.  Dawn and Denise were freaking rock stars.  They were amazing and continually there for mom.  Chad was always just a phone call away.  Doug kept a brave front, always trying to be stronger than his eyes were showing he was.  I, I have just been numb.  And then, there's mom - the one who really had to go through it all...man - she is tough!!  One thing is for sure, we were all just trying to keep it together.

But today...she is cancer free.  She continues to struggle with the fatigue but Dr. Lassi gave her some good insight as to how to help (just ask mom - she'll tell you!!!).

She will have a scan every 6-months for a couple of years.  They will call to schedule her port removal within the month.

We have a lot more to be thankful this year at Thanksgiving.  Mom said today these last six months have been the most worry she's had in quite a while...let's hope it stays that way!

Thank you again, everyone!!  All our love!!
