Beverly’s Story

Site created on October 21, 2023

Whew! Beverly Avers (mom) has many friends, family, colleagues, acquaintances...her many "people"! She is a great communicator but is just not up to doing all the communication she would like. CaringBridge is a beautiful way to do this! If you have known Mom for some years (or even for a few days) you see that she lives her life fully, enjoying every moment, unconditionally loving others and most importantly, serving Jesus. Mixed in with her adventurous and spirit-filled experiences, have been life-threatening accidents, illnesses, and more. She jokes she has 9 lives because quite literally, she has miraculously and joyfully survived as many near-death fatalities as a cat!

This site is about Mom's current updates. On September 19, Mom enrolled in Ohio Health Hospice because of her latest miraculous recovery from her SECOND aortic dissection which served as the qualifying terminal illness.  Since then, she has happily received help in her independent living apartment at Wesley Glen Retirement Community from the hospice staff. Then Wednesday, October 18, Mom woke up with what appeared to be 2 blood clots in her left leg. In the next 2 days, this leg kept swelling and has required bed rest. She cannot take blood thinners to break up the clots because that will disrupt the clotted blood that's keeping her aorta from splitting! Hospice recommended that Mom move to Kobacker house in anticipation of extra care that might be needed to mitigate pain. She happily moved there on Oct. 20.

The result? Mom still doesn't have pain and hasn't needed her oxygen. She is as cheerful and alert as ever. She is welcoming guests who are having fun visits. She goes to sleep every night telling Jesus she is ready to go home saying, "Take my hand Jesus" and then awakens to another day where she is living life to the fullest.

Feel free to text her directly or reach out to me with any questions or for a visit (email or text).

Journal entry by Diane Linton

Mom passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 16 at 11am, listening to her favorite song by Bill and Gloria Gaither, There's Something About that Name. She had said her goodbyes to our family members many times and also got the chance to thank and love on the Ohio Health Hospice staff and Wesley Glen Staff just days before. Mom knew where she was going, and looked forward to it. As usual, when she was excited about something coming up, she would talk about "dancing at the event" or "jumping up and down for joy". She is doing both now with her beloved twin sister, Barbara, and her recently deceased middle sister, Janet. She is dancing with her daughter Christine and her parents, Herbert and Glenna and all the saints before her. That's how I imagine her.
