Journal

Today was the first genuinely hot and humid day of the summer.

Managed to get out and run first thing in the morning while it was still relatively cool with some cloud cover (no rain today, just clouds, then a LOT of sunshine).

Then the house was still holding cool air from the breezy days before, so I just kept the windows closed and an electric fan nearby.

A decent day to be working the worst of the heat in the Guthrie box office, nicely climate controlled.

Then, I retreated to my car in the parking garage for a bit, because there was a concert on a hotel rooftop downtown just a bit later in the evening and it seemed silly to drive home and then drive back just to park here again at the Guthrie.  Got some further work done on the planning for the next round of script reading for me and the other three on the Literary Team for Threshold Theater.  Almost all set for tomorrow evening's meeting.

Then I strolled on over to the Hewing Hotel and got access to the rooftop concert by my pal Chris Koza and his band Rogue Valley.  Some cloud cover as the sun was setting and the moon came out.  Warm but the occasional breeze, very pleasant.  The music made it worth it.

And reminded me that I need to put together a playlist for Spellbound.  While I was waiting for the concert to start, I read the two director proposals from James and Denzel.  Denzel still has the edge in my book but we'll see what everyone else says at next week's meeting.

The concert was a nice mix of the newest album and past albums.  There was only one song whose title I didn't know by heart already (most of Chris' songs don't have obvious titles, it took me a while to learn them all, and there's some lesser tracks - still good, just not my favorites, so I don't play them as often - that I could easily confuse their titles with other ones :)  Just a great relaxing end to the day.  Even the walk back in the warm air was nice.  And now the weekend work is over and the regular work week begins anew.

On we go...
