Journal entry by Beth Philbrick

Hello, dear friends and family,

Today was a very eventful day in my life, as I woke up at 3:30 with neuropathy in my hands and with hair dropping off (plenty of hair on my pillow and on the shower floor) and so I’m now heading to bed totally bald. I had a delightful barber named Doreen, who had also struggled with breast cancer years ago and had two big surgeries, followed by many cycles of chemo  – her hair had also fallen out, and the regrowth was curly for a while, maybe a year, and then back to straight.   The return to straight occurred surprising quickly, no explanation offered.  Everyone responds differently to chemo, so we must be patient.

I will be posting a few pictures on Caring Bridge from today, for your interest. I hope to write a more complete account sometime soon, when I have more energy.  Thank you for extraordinary caring for me!
